Casandra spent the first year of her life being cold, hungry, beaten and tormented. She ended up with us being saved from the flayers and in a lamentable condition. She needed a lot of tender love and care to become sociable. She is yet to recover from her fear of leash because the moment she sees one she runs like hell. It’s probably a trauma she got from the street. Who knows how many people have tied her and dragged her to develop such a terrible fear of the leash.
Psychologically she recovers bit by bit. She likes people and she is playful, she seeks love in every insignificant gesture. She practically begs for love. She likes to be the dominant one when she is in a group of dogs, she is not aggressive, doesn’t bite but she enjoys herself barking at strangers. She would fit right in a family who lives on a house with a yard or for one who needs a watch dog.
We found Sparky on a cloudy morning on Cetatii Street in Sibiu. Actually he found us and climbed into the car as the door was open. We had just euthanized a dog who had been hit by a car and, as if he knew, he cared and licked our hands. We promised him right on the spot that we will find him a home but unfortunately we didn’t succeed. Although you might get scared by his size, he is as tame with people as a cat.
Sparky would fit into a family with a yard to protect – he is rather dominant with other male dogs – and plenty of time to play and cuddle.
Cry Baby is a medium sized lady of white creamy color, of about 6 years old.
We called her Cry Baby because she would “cry her heart out” to each and every one of our volunteers. Maybe it was because she missed the free wandering on the streets or maybe because she didn’t have friends.
With time she changed so now the name does not really suit her anymore. Elena, our care-taker is actually calling her something like “the Lady with the bowl” because she would take her bowl of food in her mouth and take it everywhere with her. Once she wants to lie down, she just puts it down, lays her head on it and sleeps peacefully.
Like all other “girls”, she is spayed. She gets along well with other dogs, cats and people. Because of her strength and habit of jumping happily on people she wouldn’t be suitable for a home with children under 14.
Bobby is about 10 years old according to our vets estimation. He has long, red and brown coat, is medium size and unfortunately completely blind.
He has been living in a field near the airport of Sibiu, where he was found by a friend of the Animal Life Association. Apparently someone used to feed him from time to time there.
We don’t know his story, if he ever belonged to someone, or where his blindness comes from, but we think he has been “an outcast” for his entire life: he prefers sleeping in the grass, instead of a dog house. The peculiar thing about him is that he gets really calm and friendly whenever he hears voices or feels a pat on his old rusty back. He is quite a character: the rugged savage who turns into a lamb as soon as he gets some affection! He would let you hug, lift or groom him…everything is fine with him as long as people are around!
A nice, quiet home will be more suitable for him. If you want to become a “foster parent” for him and cover food and vaccine, please contact us!
